Fishbone – Nollywood Movie

Fishbone

Synopsis

FISHBONE is a short film that basically takes a microscope to focus in on one of the many ways that drug counterfeiting in our society is harmful to the many. It follows an inspector – Daniel Etim Effiong (aka “Folarin of Life“) as he raids what he believes to be the hub of production for a particular medicine in the slums of Lagos. He does this in hopes of capturing the mastermind behind the operation. On the other hand, the kingpin is right under his nose but still out of reach to him.

It is succinct and straight to the point and does not only send the message across, it also manages many pleasing artistic feats. For instance, half of the short film is set in the relatively under-captured slums of Lagos (more of this kind of imagery in “Hotel Choco“) and the camera takes it all in. It also allows Shaffy a small opportunity to display her artistic chops in the antagonist role.

If there’s one question I have after all of this is over though, is why the distraction to the story in the post credit shots where people are brought together to talk about/attempt to equate film piracy with drug counterfeiting?
